Thoth (tOHth) was Bastet’s adoptive brother and was one of the founding members the Alliance of Sentinels. Less aggressive than the rest of the Sentinels, Thoth instead pursued knowledge instead of violence. A reknowned scientist and inventor, he was the preminent authority on subjects including Magical Physics, biology, geology, and technology. He was credited with designing the gateway to Arentium that allowed people to regenerate their cells and live extended lifetimes. His greatest contribution though was inventing the time machine that allowed Stephanie LaFleur and Tefnut to jump through periods of history.

Early Life

Birth

Thoth was born in the year 884 FY | 3117 BC. The circumstances surrounding his birth were a mystery. Lilly was surprised by her son, Ra, who returned from an extended abscence with the infant Thoth in his arms. Lilly then raised him as her own, counting herself as Thoth’s true mother even though she was his biological grandmother.

The Gateway

Thoth was celebrated and worshipped in Egypt as the God of Wisdom. He performed considerable work on studying the link between Earth and Fabella, all before he turned 18. In 902 FY | 3099 BC, he completed his work by designing the gateway that allowed the Arentiums to extend their lifetimes. He made his first trip to Arentium the same year.

Thoth would always age back to 18 when travelling to Arentium. His usual presence on Earth and Fabella was 30 years, sometimes less if he was required to make a trip ahead of schedule.

Dawn of Fabella

Thoth journeyd to Fabella for the first time in 1426 FY | 2575 BC. He went as part of a fact finding expedition to the magical world in an effort to study its resources. When his sister Bastet was besieged by a pack of sasquatches, Thoth rushed to save her. He wound up meeting Emit, a faun who had rescued Bastet. Instantly enamoured with Emit, Thoth invited him back to the camp. Emit — having met Set before — reacted harshly when he found out Thoth and his people were Arentiums. Thoth’s specimens were destroyed along with all his equipment as Emit put him and his family to work in Adele. Thoth wasted no time ingratiating himself with Emit, aiding in providing medical assistance to sick people in the colony and introducing ancient technology used by the Egyptians. Emit warmed to Thoth and his family and was about to let them go when Set returned to take Emit by force.

Thoth, realizing that Emit was immortal like his grandmother Lilly, organized a recovery effort. He and Bastet went to Arentium to help get Emit away from Set’s clutches. The plan worked, but Thoth was caught by Set while Emit and Bastet were sucked through the portal back to Earth.

Half a minute for Thoth in Arentium was far longer for his family on Earth. When Set brought him back to Fabella, Thoth was rescued by his family and turned his attention to beating the menacing titans. He served as a key military strategist in the Sea People’s Rebellion, which saw the Sentinels allying with the merfolk of Niflhel to battle against the titan stronghold of Punt. Their failure at the Battle of Embasin Cove ended the war, but also brought Thoth face to face with Stephanie LaFleur.

Stephanie LaFleur had been travelling through time with the aid of a time machine. In the aftermath of the Battle of Embasin Cove, she found herself stuck in the past with a dead future version of Thoth. Thoth buried himself, knowing that he would die in the future. Stephanie then assumed leadership of the group. She took them down the coast to start the Republic of Fantasia.

During construction of Fantasia, Thoth fell in love with Stephanie and they decided to get married. Their marriage was a celebratory affair in the early days of the Republic. In the middle of taking their vows, Thoth discovered that his biological mother was Tefnut. His mind was still reeling the next day when Thoth accepted an influx of villagers who had been assualted by the Titans. In the confusion, he didn’t notice Emit race off on a griffin to take on the titans one on one.

Emit went missing and Thoth worked for years to find his friend. Former titan Rhea arrived at Fantasia with baby Zeus in her arms. Rhea had turned her back on Set and the titans and sought safe harbor, which Stephanie and Thoth provided to her. Rhea was later killed in an early conflict with the titans. Thoth and Stephanie adopted Zeus to raise him as their son. The couple also welcomed a daughter, Alexandra “Alix”. Sadly a son, Dixon, later died in the womb.

Thoth was overjoyed when Stephanie and Zeus found Emit. The joy was short lived as the Puntians descended on Fantasia. In the midst of the battle, Stephanie died taking a killing curse meant for Zeus. The curse was delivered from Bastet who had been bewitched by Tefnut to do her bidding. An enraged Thoth threw Zeus out of the family. Following Stephanie’s funeral, he took Alix to Arentium where she would sleep and wait for the proper time to return to Earth.

Herstory

Thoth brought Alix back to Earth in 6018 FY | 2018 AD. They settled in Mill Valley, California, under the assumed story that they were a brother and sister who had lost their parents. Thoth went by the alias Thomas Dixon during this time.

As luck — or grave misfortune — would have it, they lived directly across the street from a young Stephanie LaFleur. Stephanie and Alix became best friends while Thoth worked to invent the time machine in secret.

In 6024 FY | 2024 AD, Alix was kidnapped by Tefnut. Immediately following Alix’s abduction, Thoth educated Stephanie on the time machine and they lived together for about a week. Stephanie then departed to find Alix. Thoth disappeared for a year, his whereabouts unknown.

He remerged in 6025 FY | 2025 AD to rescue Stephanie from a group of titans. The two of them accidentally then travelled back in time to the first day of the Battle at Embasin Cove. It was here that they came across Tefnut, who killed Thoth by stabbing him with her razor sharp bladed tail. Stephanie was left to narrowly escape with her life.

“Did you know …”

One of Thoth’s defining characteristics was his habit of spouting random facts to showcase his intellect and much to the annoyance of others:

Known Aliases

Thomas Dixon

This was the alias Thoth assumed while living across the street from Stephanie LaFleur in San Francisco from 2018 – 2025. He pretended to be a college student while secretly inventing a time machine. Alix lives with him during this time period after being kept in Arentium.

Physical Description

Thoth’s key defining physical trait was his nose, an aggressive large hook often compared to a bird’s beak. He was always tall and scrawny with wild black hair. An older Thoth would often let his hair go gray. Until Stephanie made him glasses, he was always squintin his hazel eyes to see. Bastet even called him “Squints” because of this. Thoth continually repaired his eyeglasses an required corrective lenses throughout his lifetime.

Personality

Thoth was an intellectual who prefered to eamine foes and, if possible, negotiate with them. He was often intrigued by the scientific implications of a problem, so much so that he almost forgot there was a problem. Thoth was extremely likable by those who knew him best. Few ever got that far though as he consistently had trouble relating to other people and wasn’t at all charismatic or personable.
