Natalie LaFleur

Natalie Williams was an elven witch and mother of Stephanie LaFleur. Following the death of both her biological parents when she was just a baby, Emit adopted her as his daughter. St. Tara’s Academy of Magical Arts and Sciences became her home. Bastet brought her clothes and records from Earth as souvenirs. She attended high school on the academy campus along with introductory (Stage 1) magic courses. Despite being raised by one of the school’s founders, she was very popular and had a large group of followers. In 5989, she was forced to share her dorm room with Stephanie LaFleur, who was her time traveling daughter from the future.

By age 50, Natalie was a mother of three living in Mill Valley, California. She was a pediatrician at a local clinic. Her past in Fabella and identity as an elf was kept secret from her family.

Herstory

Natalie was seen both as an older character and teenager in Herstory. She was first introduced as being harsh and an annoyance toward her daughter, Stephanie Lafleur. The two of them struggled to get along and speak to each other.

Unbeknownst to Stephanie, Natalie’s personality was partly based on the fact she met her daughter in 1989 as a teenager. The two of them roomed together in Shae Hall for three months, during which time Natalie bullied Stephanie constantly. Their relationship improved drastically when Natalie found out Stephanie was from Earth and they listened to music from the future together.

Natalie arrived in 2024 to help save Alix from Tefnut. Upon finding out she knew Alix was her daughter, Stephanie ran away. Stephanie later observed that Natalie and Thoth were friends and formed a tight bond. When Stephanie returned to 2025 she and Natalie were finally able to talk openly with each other. The novel ends with them comfortable together as mother and daughter.
