Megantula (mehg-ahn-too-lah)

Megantulas were giant spiders. A thick exoskeleton protected the megantula from a generous amount of attacks. The only way to take one down was to hit it in the soft underbelly. Their webs were mostly made in the openings of caves and deep in the forest. They preferred darkness and were mostly active during the night. Families usually lived together in colonies. Thankfully, the megantula traditionally gave birth only once every ten years to approximately fifteen offspring. Five of which usually made it to adulthood.
