Lightning Bird (lahyt-ning burd)

Lightning Bird

Lightning-Birds were birds of prey widely distributed throughout all continents of the the world, except Zisko. They earned their name from the high rate of flight and dives reaching upwards of 300 mph. Adult lightning birds had thin, tapered wings, which enabled them to fly at high speed and change direction rapidly. They killed with their beaks, using a “tooth” on the side. As was the case with many birds of prey, lightning birds had exceptional powers of vision; their visual acuity was measured at three times that of a normal person.
