Dard

The domestic dard was a small carnivorous reptile. They were a cross between lizards and domestic cats. Dards were often valued by people for companionship and for their ability to hunt vermin. Dards had a strong, flexible body, quick reflexes, sharp retractable claws, and teeth adapted to killing small prey. Dards could hear sounds too faint or too high in frequency for the average person, such as those made by mouse deer and other small animals. They could see in near darkness. Despite being solitary hunters, they were a social species and dard communication included the use of a variety of vocalizations (mewing, purring, trilling, hissing, growling, and grunting), as well as pheromones and types of feline body language.
