Abbagoochie (ah-bah-goo-chee)

Abbagoochie

Abbagoochies were members of the marsupial family. They mostly resided in trees eating fuzzy licorice leaves. This was odd since the sticky licorice leaves were covered in black sap and they were the only animal who would even touch the sickening plant. Although they looked cuddly, they were really just 35 lbs of fur and teeth. They were stocky animals roughly 60 – 85cm (24 – 33in) tall and weigh 4 – 15kg (9-33lbs) with a large head and non-existent tail. Fur, ranging from light grey to chocolate brown, was thicker and longer on the back, and shorter on the belly. Curved claws were well adapted for climbing trees where abbagoochies spent most of their lives. They had one of the smallest brains in proportion to the body weight of any mammal, being 60% smaller than a typical marsupial and could not adapt to changes in its regular routine.
